West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design services for a new 6,400 square foot South Dakota DOT office and shop for the Bridge Repair and Painting Crews in Rapid City.
The mechanical system included space temperature conditioning, ventilation, domestic water and sanitary services including trench drains and sand/oil interceptor.
The heating of the garage area was accomplished using a boiler with in-floor radiant tubing. Ventilation was by means of continuous and intermittent exhaust and make-up air controlled by gas detection system that monitored CO, CO2, NO2, and Humidity. The office space is conditioned using a VRV system with three air coils.
New electrical systems included power distribution, voice/data (rough-in), interior lighting, exterior lighting and duct smoke detection. The shop area is provided with cord reels and convenience receptacles. The shop lighting is high bay T8 fluorescent type with lenses and office lighting is T-8 fluorescent.
