Drafting to Modeling (October 2017)
The art of drafting is an essential part of the construction industry. So as buildings themselves become increasingly filled with complex information and responsive design – so must the drawings that represent them. One key answer to designing for a dynamic world has been a program called Autodesk® Revit® – one source for Building Information Modeling (BIM) software – or CAD on steroids if you will.
In this issue, we’ll delve into understanding how this software was developed, its impact on the design process and what we see as the future of drafting. We’ll also talk about the traditional AutoCAD® platform, which is still widely used in the industry, as compared to Revit – and how the two can be used together to create the best possible end product. Finally, we’ll give real life project examples where the use of the Revit platform has helped solve issues, avoid problems and deliver better service to clients and owners.
