Scheel’s IcePlex
Facility Addition | Sioux Falls, SD
The Scheels IcePlex has long been a cornerstone of the Sioux Falls hockey community, and rapid growth in youth participation—from roughly 400 skaters to more than 800—created an urgent need for additional space and modernized facilities. This expansion project delivers the long‑awaited enhancements needed to support that momentum.
A new 12,320‑square‑foot, two‑story addition on the north side of the complex will serve as the dedicated home for Sioux Falls Youth Hockey. The main level includes varsity locker rooms for boys and girls, staff offices, storage, and a trainer’s room. The upper level provides warmup and workout space, shooting lanes, a conference room, and a viewing area overlooking the north rink.
West Plains Engineering provided full‑scope engineering services—including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire protection, and technology—to seamlessly integrate the new addition with the existing building.
