Sanford Health

Pharmacy Upgrade | Sioux Falls, SD

West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical engineering design services to upgrade the IV Room EPB LL at the Sanford Health campus in Sioux Falls.

The project consisted of replacing the existing pre-manufactured pharmacy enclosure with a new pre-manufactured enclosure complying with current USP 797 and 800. No new square footage was added. The project directly replaced the enclosure, controls and related infrastructure as necessary to accommodate the enclosure.

Prior to the pre-manufactured pharmacy enclosure being removed, a temporary IV booth was installed to keep the pharmacy operational. Mechanical and electrical connections were made to this temporary enclosure.

Mechanical design for the new pre-manufactured pharmacy enclosure included ductwork modifications, new exhaust fans, and plumbing connections to fixtures within and outside of the space. Electrical design involved new pressure monitoring controls, new temperature controls, new wireless sensors for new refrigerators and freezers and connection to Sanford’s existing monitoring system for these types of devices.
