Brookings City/County Administration Building

West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for this new three story building. The facility includes joint administration building for the County and City of Brookings, South Dakota. The basement includes storage space, future growth space and mechanical space. The main electrical service is a 1000 amps, 480V/277, 3-phase with step down transformers from 120/208V equipment panels. Two 480V elevators and an elevator equipment room service all floors. Work areas include open space, individual offices and conference rooms for both the City and County. Conference rooms were equipped with project screens, ceiling projectors, sound system and dimmable lighting. The building is heated and cooled by an air handling unit and variable air volume (VAV) system. The central cooling source is a modular water cooled chiller. The central heating source is two high efficiency boilers for reheat. The system also uses the waste heat generated by the chillers for reheat in the VAV boxes during shoulder seasons
