WYDOT Fuel Storage Tank Replacements

The Wyoming Department of Transportation is in the process of eliminating underground fuel storage tanks at their facilities around the state. These tanks are being replaced with new, above ground storage tanks, with leak and overflow detection systems. These projects typically include new dispensers with computerized dispensing and logging systems.

WYDOT Maintenance Shops

The Wyoming Department of Transportation built new maintenance shops in Arlington and Saratoga, Wyoming. These buildings include offices for maintenance staff, as well as highway patrol officers. They provide complete servicing facilities for the Department’s trucks, including truck wash bays and on-site fueling stations.

SDDOT Sioux Falls Complex

SDDOT Canton Maintenance Shop

West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design services for a new DOT maintenance shop in Canton, South Dakota. The new building consists of four standard drive-through bays, one single direction bay and one drive through wash bay.

Roosevelt Park Indoor Pool Complex

West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design services for the Indoor Recreation Center at Rapid City, South Dakota. The facility design included a base bid area of 45,575sf that included an Olympic type swimming pool; recreational pool with slide and other water play features.

The Boys & Girls Club

The new Boys & Girls Club facility in Casper, Wyoming was constructed with the help of grants, endowments and generous businesses and individuals throughout the community. It fills the organizations need for a functional and safe facility, which is also appealing to adults and children alike. This facility includes arts & crafts and computer classrooms, a teen center, two gymnasiums, a commercial kitchen and large dining area. There is an upstairs administration area to support the administrative activities of The Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming. There are also outdoor facilities to support numerous sporting activities.

SD Game Fish & Parks Outdoor Campus

West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design services for a new Outdoor Campus that features new office space for the SDGF&P Region 1 headquarters, public and interactive education spaces, and a 30 acre outdoor environment for public use and education. The mechanical systems utilized a geothermal heat pump system throughout the building with air to air heat exchangers to maximize efficiency.

Paul Smith Children’s Village & Lowe’s Discovery Lab

Cheyenne Botanic Gardens opened its doors to a new science center and interactive garden for children. The mission of the Discovery Lab is to teach sustainable living to the next generation. The project incorporates many different strategies, from wind and solar energy to water conservation techniques. Recent calculations have proven these strategies optimize energy performance by 35 percent.

Marshall Water Treatment Plant

West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design services for the major addition and remodeling of the existing water treatment plant. With the rapid growth of both the industrial and residential sectors within the city, the municipal utilities were forced to increase the capacity and the quality of the domestic water supply.

Madison Water Treatment Plant

West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical services to prepare plans and specifications for the Water Treatment Plant upgrade and expansion. The work involved a complete renovation of all mechanical and electrical systems. The mechanical systems included hydronic heating with a new boiler and temperature control system. The electrical design included a new service with stand-by generator. The construction took place while the plant continued to operate. Careful coordination was required during construction to keep the plant operational
